Target Audience:

Pharmacists, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners, who manage critically ill patients.

Program Description:

Critical care practice & related pharmacotherapy encompasses a wide variety of disease states. New developments challenge the practitioner to stay abreast of emerging therapies & novel treatment strategies. This conference will focus on clinical controversies or novel therapies across the gamut of critical care medicine. We are excited to again partner with Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to continue to include a pediatric track this year. Sherri Loeb, RN, BSN will deliver our keynote session entitled, “The Impossible Dream” Safe, High Quality, and Patient Centered Care…Our Perspective on a Broken Healthcare System. Our clinical topics will highlight Contemporary Management of Cardiogenic Shock ”, Prothrombin Complex Concentrates and Anticoagulation, “Dispelling Myths of the Intensive Care Unit,” “Making Sense of the Alphabet Soup of Calcium Channel Blocker and Beta Blocker Overdoses,” “Management of Elevated Intracranial Pressure,” “Antibiotic dosing in pediatric critical illness,” “Management of metabolic crisis in children with an inborn error of metabolism (IEM),” “Ethical considerations in pediatric resuscitation and clinical practice,” and NICU and PICU Pearls among others hot topics.

Registration fee includes: continental breakfast, boxed lunch, parking validation, and up to 5.0 contact hours (0.5 CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credits, 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM continuing medical education, or up to 5.0 contact hours of continuing nursing education credits. Advanced practice nurses may count a total of 5.0 contact hours (Adult and Pediatric Track) for the pharmacotherapeutic educational requirement. All tracks will be available for participants as future homestudies and participants can earn up to a total of 10 credit hours (live + homestudy) for CE, CME, and CNE. You will receive a free access code for each session. If you received CE, CME, or CNE for the live program, you cannot receive CE, CME, or CNE credit for the same sessions as a homestudy. Handouts will be provided electronically for attendees to download and print before the conference.
